Summer Arts Fair and Lavender Festival 2013
Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21, 2013. Pelindaba Lavender Farm, 33 Hawthorne Lane and Court Street, Friday Harbor. Sponsored by The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce. The San Juan Lavender Festival at Pelindaba Lavender Farm includes Tours and exhibits surveying the entire process – from field to finished product. This "Something for Everyone" weekend is a time to celebrate the fragrant harvest at the San Juan Island Lavender Festival as well as local and regional art at the Summer Arts Street Fair in Friday Harbor.
The fields at Pelindaba Lavender Farm will be open for strolling, relaxing and breathtaking photo ops. Demonstrations cover topics such as lavender cultivation, harvesting, essential oil distillation, history and uses, cooking with lavender and more.
The Summer Arts Street Fair will feature handcrafted and painted furniture, jewelry, paintings, ceramics, hand-knotted hammocks, pottery, metal crafts and foods. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Court Street. The Fair will feature more children's activities, more artists and craftspeople, and more food vendors than ever before, says Rebecca Parks, San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce events coordinator.
The annual event, begun by the Chamber of Commerce in 1999, is the largest arts and music festival on San Juan Island. "This is the Summer Arts Fair's biggest year ever - you definitely won't want to miss it!" There will be local, live music all day on the Courthouse lawn, a Kid's Creative Center, "Chalk it Up" Sidewalk Art Contest, art demonstrations, and a food court.

Here are some photos taken today, July 21st at the Summer Arts Fair on Court St. The fair features several booths showcasing local and regional artists from across the U.S. and Canada. Live music was provided by Friday Harbor's own Uncle Otto. Sunday's music will be provided by the local band OPA at 11:00am. “A Splash of Summer Color” 2012 Summer Arts Fair
Weekend of July 21 and 22, 2012. San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce and Pelindaba Lavender Farm will once again sponsor the annual Summer Arts Fair the third weekend in July in downtown Friday Harbor. 10:00 am ~ 5:00 pm Saturday and 10:00 am ~ 4:00 pm Sunday. Art, handicrafts, food, music and fun for the whole family in town on Court Street and at Pelindaba Lavender Farm on Wold Road. The islands' favorite street art and lavender extravaganzas promise to be even more spectacular this year!
A true island event, this popular Court Street fair begun in 1999 attracts as many as 6,000 visitors who enjoy local original arts, food, lavender and music in a charming vignette embracing the historic San Juan County Courthouse. There will be approximately 50 booths showcasing local and regional talent, as well as artists from across the U.S. and Canada. Live Music, Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, Food Booths and a Kid's Creative Center make this a fun destination for all ages.
